It began in 1995 when the Shabby Chic trend was at its most popular. I was a senior in high school. My mother had an old, brown vegetable bin from the 1970s that was in need of some love. I repainted it white and added light distressing to the edges. She still uses it to this day.
As life takes you on its journey, you move on from simple crafts to embark on your career. I was no different. I have been a graphic designer for 20 years. However I would still paint and repurpose furniture in my spare time. Sometimes you just want to make something with your hands.
I worked in the music industry for over 20 years. When my life went from 300mph, to a steady 30mph, I rekindled my love for refurbishing old things. I mostly do small items, but will occasionally makeover a large dresser or table. I love little treasures and functional things to store those gems. However you will see glimpses of my musical influences appear from time to time.
I hope you love these creations as much as I do and they become a cherished keepsake for years to come. It's a simple gesture that can last generations.
